The Mayor laid a brick to mark the completion of the foundation work at the site that will bring a selection of one and two bedroom apartments to those seeking affordable homes.  The event was also attended by Harpur Ward councillor, Colleen Atkins (MBE), senior members of Storey Homes and Cross Keys, the housing provider that will be managing the phase once complete.[/mpc_textblock][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image source="featured_image" img_size="full"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mpc_textblock preset="preset_0" content_width="100" font_preset="preset_15"]The regeneration of the site will provide much-needed housing for the popular area of Bedford that was recently voted by Online estate agents eMoov, the third hottest property market in the UK, such is the demand for house hunters, who are searching outside the capital for homes of better value.  This coincides with the Government's announcement that it plans to invest £3 billion to help smaller, building firms to build 25,000 homes across the UK by 2020 through the Home Building Fund (HBF).

Katy Jordan, Managing Director of Storey Homes said: "We are delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Bedford and all our guests to officially mark the start of work at De Montfort Place for our affordable housing phase.  This phase will be valuable to those families and young people who would otherwise struggle to get on the housing ladder.  The affordable homes will be delivered to an outstanding quality and add to this key strategic site, delivering greatly needed new homes for the local community.
