As we approach the end of the year and get closer to a well-deserved period of R&R, we wanted to reflect on what a fantastic year Storey Homes has had. From time capsules to welcome mats, to new homes and new homeowners, 2022 has been a wonderfully busy year and we are excited to see what 2023 has in store!
Our Developments
Despite the ever-changing property world, we have welcomed many happy homeowners at both The Place and Bidwell Mews, whilst continuing our construction journey.
Bidwell Mews:
For Bidwell Mews, 2022 has seen a new build development turn into a new build community with 27 completions, the opening of the communal green space and a series of new shops coming to the wider Bidwell settlement. From young local families to downsizing couples, we have welcomed many prospective visitors to our three lovely show homes and have enjoyed finding them their forever homes.
Construction has continued at impressive speed with the final phase well underway. We are also ready to release a handful of 2-bedroom homes, perfect for those looking for a new home in the new year!
The Place:
We are so proud of this development; the history behind it, the restoration of The Bury, the incredible, high-quality homes we have created and the wonderful community which has emerged.
One couple who are part of this new neighbourhood is Mandy and Robert who have been enjoying their new home: “We particularly loved the pretty scalloped, white-framed entrance porch; it was a huge selling point as it gave the home character. We love how our home is tucked away and has unobstructed views from the garden overlooking the fields. The sunsets we see from here are incredible!”
Just one apartment remains available and with the development due to be fully completed at the end of January 2023, seeing this scheme come to life has definitely been a highlight of 2022.
Events
Community events were a big part of our year and we have thoroughly enjoyed connecting with local schools, Mayors and suppliers.
At both The Place and Bidwell Mews, we worked alongside two local schools to capture the essence of 2022 by burying a time capsule within each development – and what a memorable year to mark! From Jubilee flags to COVID tests, from local maps to poems about the future, and a favourite of all of ours, a pot of slime, those who open the capsule in 2072 are sure to be fascinated by what life in 2022 was like. We were particularly thrilled to welcome Councillor Clare Copleston of Houghton Regis and Mayor Dave Hodgson of Bedford to the event.
We ran a fun competition with local school children who we asked to design a welcome mat representing what Christmas means to them. The winner created a fantastic design which was very relatable to all of us at Storey Homes, as the picture showed a home inside a snow globe with the words: “There’s Snow Place Like Home”.
Looking Ahead
We are preparing for another busy year at Storey Homes and are mostly excited to make lots more people’s home buying dreams come true! Make sure you keep up-to-date with our progress at our Instagram @storeyhomes.
From all the team at Storey Homes, we hope you have a lovely Christmas and we wish you a very happy and healthy New Year!
